Much like Storm Claudia tore through the northwest the night before, Manchester City swept Manchester United aside at the Etihad. It was a statement 3-0 victory for Andrée Jeglertz’s side due to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a result that truly announced their championship potential as they consolidated their place at the league summit.

Back-to-Back Defeats for Manchester United

This scoreline represented back-to-back WSL losses for Skinner's side for the initial occasion since May 2024, placing them seven points off the table toppers with their championship aspirations hanging by a thread.

Manchester United's ability to balance domestic and European football with a thin roster has been a widely debated topic since they qualified for the European competition. Looking at the calendar, it always seemed this was the period that would fully examine this fortitude. Team Changes
