These last 48 hours have been nothing short of dramatic. On Monday, we celebrated the half-decade milestone of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with a competition to determine the top exclusive title of this hardware cycle. We presented eight PlayStation 5 titles and eight Xbox Series X exclusives to compete against each other, all heading towards a championship round where the top game from each platform would go head-to-head. We've witnessed some nail-biting finishes in the initial matchups, especially the extremely tight polls from the previous day. Now, it's time to crown the leading PlayStation and Xbox titles before Thursday’s final battle.

PlayStation 5 Contenders

On the PS5 side, we have the Kratos-killer, Astro Bot. Maybe it should be no surprise given that it took home the top prize at last year’s Game Awards, but its win against God of War Ragnarök feels like a true upset. However, to reach the championship, it'll have to go through the most valuable player of the PlayStation 5 era: Insomniac Games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enjoyed an easy journey to the semi-finals, leaping past Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another Insomniac game!) to land in the final four. Can Spidey topple a beloved PlayStation icon, or is he fated to become a miniature appearance in the next Astro Bot game?

The Xbox Series X Side

For Xbox Series X has been more exciting. Coming out on top from a diverse lineup of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a big victory for the open-world driving game already, proving that a niche category title deserves to be on the same pedestal as classic platformers and cinematic action-adventure games. Its last roadblock on the way to the finals is a major challenge, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has shown itself as a fan favorite, defeating critical darlings like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Will it overcome a much bigger game from an established IP that's synonymous with the Xbox brand? If anyone can pull that off, it's probably Indy.
