Forest Are Not Planning to Dismiss Postecoglou; Alisson Sidelined; Three Lions Squad News

Postecoglou Secure - For Now

Starting from 9am this morning, the club had no plans to sack their manager but the volatile situation of the club and its proprietor Evangelos Marinakis means that circumstances may shift rapidly.

Supporters made their voices known on the previous day, calling for the exit of the coach who took over from an local favorite and it is difficult to turn the tide once that happens.

Postecoglou is Marinakis’ man, the club chief having lined him up well ahead of Nuno Espirito Santo was dismissed. Everyone at Forest anticipated a time of adjustment but to be without a victory in six games and suffering defeats at their own ground to opposing teams were not part of the thoughts when he arrived last month.

The Australian was intended to change the style but he has his tactical philosophy, which is very different to his predecessor, so there is an acceptance that adjustments require patience. Patience, however, is not a quality often observed at Forest. The next three Premier League games are against tough opponents, so things are not going to get easier for Postecoglou.

Liverpool's Keeper Injured for The Reds

The Liverpool manager addressed the media:

ā€œAlisson is not part of the squad tomorrow and he won’t travel to Brazil for the national team matches. Hugo [Ekitike] is going to train again today, we will assess where he is. The applies similarly for Frederico [Chiesa]. It hinges on how fast the recovery goes.

ā€œI would not expect if he the keeper returns for the initial match after the national team pause. From there on things can go a bit quicker or a bit slower. It’s hard to predict. I’m not a doctor so I cannot tell you if it is the same injury.ā€

The backup keeper will play instead of Alisson.

ā€œI think we’ve seen against the Saints how well he’s adjusted. We knew we were bringing in a very good shot-stopper. When he plays his first game that’s a demonstration he’s adapted excellently to our club. It’s expected because he’s a quality player. Now he can do what we’ve had to do so many occasions in the past replacing Alisson, like we’ve handled previously.ā€

Supporters' Response at Forest's Stadium

The scenes were nearly unprecedented on a disheartening night, many local fans chanting: ā€œYour job is at risk.ā€ Then the supporters twisted the knife, voicing the title of his predecessor the ex-manager, with a number directing comments at the owner observing with his own large personal screen in the directors’ box. This made for a dismal spectacle.

Preview of Matches

Without a loss in the league since their initial match, the Cherries strong start has been stalled by back-to-back ties: at home to Newcastle and at Leeds recently. The Cottagers travel to the stadium on tonight, presenting Andoni Iraola’s side a good opportunity of returning to victory and going second. After a turbulent summer, the manager has aimed for consistency in his lineup choices.

Trailing 2-1 at their opponents, the Bournemouth manager made a three substitutions to restore three usual starters – David Brooks, Alex Scott and Marcus Tavernier – to his XI and was rewarded with a late leveller. Bournemouth have also preserved solidity at the back, conceding just once in several matches between the away games to Liverpool and Leeds. Marcos Senesi, often playing in an otherwise new defensive unit, has been crucial to the squad's cohesion. The centre-back earned praise from the boss for his performances and danger at dead-ball situations – as evidenced by his headed assist for Eli Junior Kroupi’s equaliser at Elland Road.
