England Team Selection Announced: Bellingham and Phil Left Out, Bukayo Returns

Thomas Tuchel has chosen to retain the identical England squad that triumphed against Andorra and produced a stellar performance in Serbia during the previous international break, leaving no room for Jude Bellingham and the Manchester City attacker in his group for the forthcoming friendly against Wales and the World Cup qualifier in Latvia.

Despite Phil Foden making a strong case for a return to the squad after rediscovering his form at his club, and Jude Bellingham having returned for Real Madrid following a surgical procedure, the head coach has opted not to including two of the nation's biggest offensive stars. The young midfielder has been in the starting lineup only once for his club since his return.

Tuchel has found space for Bukayo Saka, who is back to fitness and has been reinstated in place of his unavailable Arsenal teammate the sidelined player. Jack Grealish has not been handed a return to the squad.

The national team coach highlighted the energy in last month's squad and appears determined to maintaining the vibe. Tino Livramento, who featured at left-back in the convincing victory in Serbia, has dropped out due to a knee injury. Tuchel has opted against selecting a like-for-like substitute for the Magpies star but has included John Stones, who had to withdraw last month. He has spoken about the centre-back's importance for the national team and has floated the idea of deploying him in the middle of the park.

No spot has been found for the midfielder, who was called up in the previous squad but pulled out injured and was substituted by the Milan player.

The manager stated: “It was only three weeks since the previous gathering and the last win, the last performance, so the question was why not select the same group in because they set the standard. The focus now is on building routines out of it. We have regrettably two injuries at the moment with Tino and Noni and we welcome of course Bukayo Saka in to replace Noni. The defender was a last-minute addition last time; he will remain with the squad.”
