Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
